Silvertip Summit Hill

Silvertip Summit Hill

Looking up at the true summit of Silvertip Mountain, as seen from just beyond its false summit (not shown). NW peakbaggers Greg Slayden, Martin Shetter, and Edward Earl attempted the the northwest route and expected favorable conditions. The lower gullies were thawed-out and spitting out boulder-sized scree. The upper sections of the mountain, such as seen here, were full of fresh avalanches and steep ice... forcing their party to end their attempt. Photo taken by Martin Shetter on June 12, 2011.
