Tye and Sky  Sucess!

Started from the Skyline Lake TH. At first I accidentally parked in the Stevens Pass employee parking without even knowing. They asked me to move after finding out that I didn't actually work there. The trail to the lake was completely packed and some spikes would have been nice to have here. Past the lake it was all snowshoeing on great snow. The ridge up Tye was a bit airy in the first section but overall not bad. Sky looks a bit intimidating from the summit of Tye, but it really is not that bad. Circling around the east side of Sky gave easy access to the ridge to the summit. A great snowshoeing trip if you are not looking for something not too challenging.

Sky's the limit  Sucess!

Beautiful day with just a little snow on the ground to make the rocks and slopes more challenging. Fresh road work has pretty much wiped out the connections to the climbers trail. The start of the trail is at about 5050 ft at a sharp curve. There was a pink ribbon and two cairns on this day.

Sky  Sucess!

Had some time to kill after Union and Jove, so I did this one for the 3fer. Did the trail on the way up, and road on the way down - I don't think the trail saves any time.

First snow lead  Sucess!

After multiple days of warm sun, blue bird skies and christmas breakers tearing up the Skyline area, this hike was a bit of a struggle through soft snow. But, I made it to the summit, and the views were spectacular! However, not quite as good the neighboring Tye Peak, which I completed with Redwic 2 days prior :)

A bit challenging...  Sucess!

to work our way down from the highpoint on Skyline Ridge but the way up Sky Mountain was pretty straightforward (but wooded). Also, the snow made it easier to cross the talus field below the ridge.

Skyline and Sky  Sucess!

Bryan, Skylar and I did Skyline Ridge and Sky Mountain. The fresh snow made the talus and scramble on Skyline more difficult. Returning from Sky Mountain I fell on some slushy snow covering mossy rocks and landed badly on my arm. I felt and heard things happen inside my shoulder. After it happened I quickly lost the use of my left arm. Time will tell how bad the injury is.

Sky  Sucess!

This was done as a winter snowshoe. Nice clear day and it was a good time. There were certainly some steep tricky bits and we took a different way down on the return. Lots of people travel up to the lake and then the blocky ridgeline above but after that the crowds had thinned out.

More Effort Than We Anticipated  Sucess!

Don't be fooled by the topography shown on maps. There are steeper slopes and more obstacles (such as many trees and boulders) encountered than one might initially anticipate just looking at a map. However, the mountain is definitely non-technical to summit if on-route, and has great views of the surrounding areas.
