Great Hike  Sucess!

Hiked from the highway with my dog so total of about 9 miles roundtrip. Wind gusts up to 50 mph (per accuweather) snow and hail. We saw a small herd of elk on the descent and 3 deer on the ascent. Loved this easy hike.

Group hike  Sucess!

Lots of flies at the trailhead made it nearly unbearable. It was much better on the trail. It was a pretty hot day.

Nice little peak!  Sucess!

Hiked this peak as a little leg stretcher on our way up to Kayenta. Pleasantly surprised by the really nice views. A nice peak to hike if you are coming through and don't have too much time.

Mtn Biked It!  Sucess!

Amazing little summit! The views are quite impressive! Road my mtn bike to the top of this from the Ft Valley (hwy 180). It was about an 1 hour round trip from the road. I think I was the first one on the summit this year

Former Lookout  Sucess!

Lookout list made me do it. Seem to recall finding
one of Richard Carey's distinctive red registers on top.

Slate Mountain Trail #128  Sucess!

45 minutes car-to-car. Nice views of Kendrick and the SF peaks from the summit.

Route Climbed: Slate Mtn Trail #128 Date Climbed: July 25, 2004  Sucess!

Did an easy hike on Slate Mtn with friends who weren't up for Humphrey or Kendrick. Really enjoyed the views and was glad to even see the Grand Canyon as it often lost in the clouds whenever I'm on Humphrey's Peak.

Slate Mtn appears to be very popular with horny toads- I saw more on the trail in 2 hours than I have seen over the last decade in Arizona.
