Seen from the flank of a wildfire this pine forest is enshrouded in smoke from an uncontrolled, low intensity burn as the fire consumes the needles, small branches and other timber litter covering the open forest floor. On this same fire areas of heavier fuel loading created flames in excess of ten feet.
