DAY ONE: From West Crockett Trailhead. Hiked up and visited Stony Creek Falls on the way, then set a camp at Milk Ranch. Did a sunset hike to Snow Mountain West after that.
DAY TWO: From camp at Milk Ranch, hike up to Snow Mountain East (the high point) and "Snow Mountain North" AKA Point 6994, because it looked cool. Then down to Signal Peak, back to camp. Visited Stony Creek Falls again on the way back down, and I slipped on a rock and whacked my head. Haven't been right since. Oh well.

Sweet isolation
This was part of a trip pursuing county high points for an itinerary that ended up (adaptability and all that) including Modoc, Lassen, Siskiyou, Lake/Colusa, Glenn, Mendocino, Butte, Tehama, Humboldt, & Trinity counties. (As it happens, Siskiyou -- Mt. Shasta -- was the primary objective on this tour, and it was the only unsuccessful summit attempt.)
After returning to Bunny Flat at 8:30 a.m. with our tails between our legs from our failed Shasta attempt, I decided I wanted at least one summit today. So I headed to Snow Mountain, about 4 hours away.
The roads are *generally* fine for all vehicles, minus a couple sections with some ruts. But I am going to elaborate: this is ONLY true coming from I-5 to the East. After I summited, I explored a variety of options looking for outlets to the south and west. Not only did I never find it, wasting 3 hours on the process, but those roads are DEEPLY rutted, where even some high-clearance vehicles have little margin for error before becoming high-centered , etc. I had a couple close calls myself. Not only that, but not all of the roads were yet cleared of wildfire deadfall when I was there, resulting in a couple dead-ends. A couple other variants involved driving across streams -- which I then had to backtrack across after finding another dead end.
The only vehicles I encountered once the pavement ended were a tanker truck and a motorcycle. I have no idea when I last had cell signal before the trailhead. The road to the trailhead must have been repaired/reopened from the wildfires since other reports because my distance was shorter than other reports: 8.9 mi; 2300’ gain.
The area is healing. Beautiful flowers of all colors and grasses are in abundance. Streams are flowing again. Birds were chirping and myriad salamanders popped out to say hello. Even the trail is in great shape thanks to hardworking crews. After 2 miles the trail seems to trace the line where the fire stopped, weaving back and forth through untouched and burned forest.
Several bumps on summit may qualify. I found a benchmark on none of them but on the northernmost outcrop I did find an iron-case register placed by the California Alpine Club. A party of 3 appears to have spent the night up here one day prior. It also appears there may have been a benchmark here at one time, and even been replaced, but that it has been stolen.
On my way out I met a group of 3 guys who were doing a multiday cross-country loop. I am not sure where they started. They expressed surprise at seeing anyone else out there; I was surprised myself. I am fairly certain this is the same group who signed the summit register the day prior, on the basis of how few people make it out here.
Started at 1:00; back to vehicle by 4:45.

The access road to Summit Springs is closed to due a washout, so I (along with several others who parked nearby) started from M10, this is a nice hike, circled around to the west peak on return.

Deafy Glade
The Deafy Glade trail up to Summit Trail is really a nice route. More than 10 cars at the small parking area and via the other routes there were a lot of people up there. Clouds made it so the views weren't grand but very nice anyways.

My first SummitPost!
Made the climb with my girlfriend. About 14 miles from the Deafy Glade trailhead and back. Hike was lovely; well-maintained trail which we had all to ourselves. Stood on both Lake and Colusa cohp's for good measure. We would've stayed longer but both of us were feeling a bit woozy from the altitude (3400 ft to 7056 ft in just a few hours was a bit jarring for the body). Was able to see all the regional landmarks, though both Mt. Shasta & Mt. Lassen were obscured by smog (multiple fires in the area this weekend). Visibility was spectacular to the south, however, and was able to see Mt. Diablo way out in Marin County.
My goal is to climb all the cohp's by 40. I'm 28 now. Bagging two in one weekend ain't bad.
Did a little loopy thing and bagged both Snow Mtn peaks. Hot. Always hot in CA.

West Crockett
Camped two nights at West Crockett campground. Climbed Crockett Peak day 1, then both Snow Mountain peaks Day 2. It was a total of 16 miles with a side excursion to the falls to wash off the dust and sweat. Ran into rattler near the trail down to the falls, slithered off into a hole NEXT to the trail. Falls gorgeous. Isolated campground, saw nobody else the entire day. Crockett peak is a 1200' climb in less than 1 mile right from the campground.

Deafy Glade
Beautiful trail, views were compromised by pollution, but a very nice day hike.
Not sure the exact year but had always wondered about that peaky thing on the horizon that you see driving north from the day -- did it as an outing once while staying at Harbin Hot Springs -- had the whole peak to myself.

started late in the day, 3:44 car to car.
A couple of thoughts for others:
1> The trailhead is only 1.8 miles from M10, not 1.7mi then another 1.8
The trailhead isnt visible from the road, but next to the restroom is a trail which leads down to the information post
2> About 1.5miles in, there is a sign which is faded and unclear which way to the summit. The Gary Suttle lead me to think I should go right. You should go straight. Lost about 25 minutes there.
Long hike in from Crocket TH. Both peaks. Could not find a register on one. Is it there? Few people (4) but a LARGE 7' Rattler did greet me at one time!

Father son trip
First summit in over a year. Nice hike on Sunday with my son Jackson. We made it to the saddle then decided to summit the west peak. Because in the words of my 7 year old son "that one has the most snow dad"! Think I'll go back in fall or winter for the east peak.

Long drive, great hike
Did it as an enjoyable two day trip from Summit Springs. Really enjoyed the outing but the drive was sooo long. Tried to come in from 101, but being in Camry and a deepish stream crossing convinced us to take a long detour and come in from the east. Will always wonder if we'd have made it or if it would have been a total disaster.
