Snow Slopes on Mac Leod Peak

Snow Slopes on Mac Leod Peak

There is no one best way to climb Mac Leod Peak from Mac Leod Lake. When there is a lot of snow, as there was at this time, there are many interesting options. We climbed the short couloir on the right side here, which put us on a very brief level spot before the final snow and talus slopes to the summit. The snow steepens considerably in the couloir from the moderate grade below it, but it can still be climbed without anything more special than an ice axe or, if the snow is soft enough, sturdy trekking poles.
