Both tents  Sucess!

This makes UT CoHP #6 for me. Spring City to skyline Friday afternoon. Skyline drive had some really bad mud spots North of the Tents and I parked and tried to summit. I only made it about 20 minutes up the side of N. Tent before the sun started setting because of the extra hour walk. I turned around and went back and slept in the truck. Next morning the mud was frozen over so I made it to the base of N. Tent driving. Walked to the base of the saddle and went up a gully. Hit South first. Then North. Came back down the slope of North. Great beautiful fall morning hike. Took skyline south to the Orangeville turnoff and made it to East Mt. in Emery Co. and summited later in the afternoon. 2 Utah CoHP in 1 day. =)

Above the Skyline Drive  Sucess!

Hiked South Tent Mt. via North Tent, then down into basin and along base of North Tent. Beautiful.

About Time  Sucess!

I spent much of my youth in these mountains, but never hiked South Tent. Hit both of them and enjoyed some elk down below.

Very nice hike  Sucess!

Climbed to the saddle between north and south tent. Did both peaks. Very easy climb and the views were very nice. Road down Spring City canyon was very dusty but in good shape. Looks like the forest service is in the process of fixing the road

Route-finding special  Sucess!

One thing for sure: descriptions of "how to get there" in the two books about Utah County highpoints are grossly out of date. No sign in Spring City, no sign pointing to South Tent Mountain. I found it by asking campers. Interesting markers on top, though.

Tent Mountains  Sucess!

I'll add some details on the comments section re: the road, etc. This is one of those long drive and short hike COHP trips but the views and terrain are nice.

Short Hike  Sucess!

Drove as close as we could, down a side road to the base of South Tent, and then bushwhacked up a steep sort of clearing toward the summit. Great views from the summit, found a large wooden cross up there. Had a nice weekend, did Monument Peak and East Mtn also.

Slippery and wet  Sucess!

Hiked with my 19 year-old nephew, Spencer. The rain had soaked everything and the mountain was socked in with clouds. The access road was more nerve-racking than the hike itself due to how slippery everything was. During the hike, Spencer slid down some steep slopes a couple of times. If we hadn't have marked a waypoint for where my Jeep was parked, it may have been even more of an epic adventure!

An HPer in the making?  Sucess!

Climbed with my wife and boy. It was my boy's first Utah HP. We saw elk and deer and millions of ATVers! We just drove to the base and walked up a gully to the summit.

Up here in the area at the Geocaching Event, and just had to take advantage of camping in the middle of two county highpoints.

Bushwacked  Sucess!

I drove the side road to the base of South Tent. Bushwacked it up the side and made the top suprisingly quickly. I love the Wasatch Plateau it is awesomely beautiful! A little over an hour round trip.

Tons of Elk  Sucess!

We drove into the area early in the morning, and hiked an incorrect peak before it was light enough to realize our mistake. Another few minutes and we were standing on top of S. Tent and enjoying the view of the countryside. On the way down we must have seen 40 head of elk.

Road sucks!  Sucess!

Yikes what a road! Still, had a good hike... followed 'Becks Ditch' to below the saddle then up to it and the summit. 2 hrs r/t. Lovely area. Overrun with ATVs.

So.Tent via No. Tent  Sucess!

Went in from Spring City after trying from the south and found Skyline drive to be blocked by snow. Parked west of No. Tent mountain and went over No. Tent to get to So. Tent. Great hike with Dennis Poulin.
