From Whitney  Sucess!

Lot's of scree in the lower part, sucks when you go up. Only the class 3 chimney close to the top is fun. Descended via East Ridge.

Russell: South Face Rt Side

Which chute did you take at the top? I made it up the diagonal chimney to the left of the headwall. Were you able to locate the notorious Secor "2nd chute" to the right of the headwall? I posted a picture on the routes page. Thanks!

Not bad  Sucess!

I heard a lot about how this route is a horrible scree slog. I dind't think it was bad at all compared to some other 14ers like Williamson and Langley. Fun little 3rd class at the top and really limited exposure along the ridge from there. Coming back down the mantle move is the only awkward part.

South Face Right Side  Sucess!

Second time summiting this year. Approach via UBS Lake using Bob R's new variation; descent via Whitney-Russell col. Class 3 chimney was the best part.
