South from North Chilco
Looking into the valley of the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River from the summit of Chilco Mountain, the higher Saint Joe Range becomes visible. The green, undulating ridges of the Coeur d'Alene Mountains, a sub-range of the Bitterroot Mountains (still a subrange of the Greater Bitterroot Range), extend east for over 60 miles to the Clark Fork River Valley at Thompson Falls.
