South Guardian Angel

South Guardian Angel

View from the top South Guardian Angel is in the Kolob section of Zion National Park. The peak is 7,073 feet. This is a tough day hike with some intense scrambling. At the end of the day you will be tired!

Thanks for the

vote of encouragement, Tanya! This is a truly
nice photograph. What is that 'pointy' peak
off to the right in the background? It might
be called Spendlove Knoll? Has CP did it, yet?

It really thrills me to still see all that
snow on the Pine Valley Mountains. Awesome!!

Re: Thanks for the

That is outside of Zion, but I think that CP has done it, yes. Bo did it with him.. if I am thinking of the right peak, but I was not there and I don't remember the name. Thanks for the kudos on the photo. You photo of the week is a winner!

Re: Thanks for the

Isn't there a trail out there (within Zion)
called 'Hop Valley Trail?' What is that all
about? Is somebody growing hops out there, to
supply southern Utah with more beer ??? ??? :)

Re: Thanks for the

There is! I would not really call it a trail, but it connects the Kolob section with the Kolob Terrace section of the park. Bo hits it when he does his hike (50 miles) across Zion in a day thing.

Re: Thanks for the

Yes ... the so-called "Plop Valley Trail,"
isn't the place to be in the dead of summer.
I'm shooting for this September to visit Zion!
