South Mountain

South Mountain seen from the west. I started from mouth of Rose Canyon (below Step Mt) cross-country across a couple drainages to intersect the road ascending the west face, and zigged to the top. Wildfires of recent years made for much less bushwhacking. I more or less followed the 4WD drive road along Black Ridge (to water tank) and descended Step Mountain to my starting point (an alternative to the stated route). 25 March 2016.
