The Arapahos  Sucess!

I had been up the 4th of July trail a number of times before it hit me that I should climb S Arapaho. I attempted the traverse on 14Jun, but didn't get too far due to snow (I didn't have snow gear). I remember meeting myrone on that day. Got over to N Arapaho a month later. I remember meeting GeorgeJames on that day; he got a picture of me having a lot of fun on the traverse. The traverse was one of my first class 3s.

First Class 3  Sucess!

Did the traverse + Old Baldy. My first Class 3 peak--very fun and not as difficult as I thought it would be. Hardest part of the day was route-finding the final stretch of the out leg: took an hour+ to get out and only 30 mins to get back.

Skywalker  Sucess!

Cool route to the summit. It's nice that the route tops out so close to the summit.

Standard traverse  Sucess!

Hiked up from 4th of July. Mostly easy scrambling on the ridge, but what an amazing peak!

This was the first peak(s) I climbed while out west and got me hooked on alpinism. Very memorable.

Via Skywalker  Sucess!

Brutal wind and snow at the summit (gotta love JUNE Climbing in Colorado) took longer than we would have liked due to our large group but most of the party summited S. Arapaho

Quick Day on the Traverse  Sucess!

Only a 5 hour day, but a great time on the traverse. The crux really wasn't bad at all.

Traverse Done  Sucess!

Came back for revenge after the snow and ice shut me down. Got both peaks today and a really beautiful view from the tops. Fun stuff. 4:20 roundtrip from 4th of July.

Just South (solo traverse attempt)  Sucess!

Tons of snow and ice on the route. Made it to SA from 4th of July quickly and started across the traverse. An hour later I got shut down by the third crux as it was just too icy and snow covered to get across safely. Will be back to get revenge soon.

great traverse  Sucess!

This was a fun ridge climb. It posed just enough challenge to be fun ... like its airy "catwalk" to get the blood pumping ... some minor routefinding challenges ... and a bit of good class 3 slab/crack scrambling. Views were stellar.

Thanks to tombaldwin's post on a thread, we knew this would be snow-free, so we didn't need to bring any unnecessary gear (thanks, Tom!).

South/North Traverse  Sucess!

Finished rather late due to an early detour, fortunately it was a great day (weather wise) for a late summit. The South Peak was a marmotopolis, and the mayor allowed me to take several pictures of him posing on the summit. Then he chewed up the grip on my trekking pole while I wasn't looking. Now I know why people don't like marmots.

Loved the traverse: a really fun class 3 scramble, with various features to negotiate, all on superbly solid rock. The exposure was noticeable but not too much to write home about in my opinion. If you've tasted a little rock scrambling and really want to get your feet wet, I think this is a great spot for it. If you're already knee deep in mountaineering, then you should have plenty of fun with this one.
