Odell lake from summit of south Mt Yoran

Mt yoran from summit of south mt yoran

The south ridge route is straight forward from Divide pass hike north on the open exposed ridge of the mountain. It"s approximatly three tenths of a mile to the summit. The route consists of loose dinnerplate scree very loose and stays just below the ridge proper until the last fifty yards are so were you want to be mindful of the exposure along the west and north sides of the mountain. The view is spectacular well woth the effort.

Essential Gear

A hard helmet and walking sticks are a good idea during the summer and fall. An Ice axe, crampons and snow shoes in The spring. I have not been here in winter time. seems a bit extreme. Ice axe, crampons, snowshoes and a rope with a partner would be highly reccomended.
