2017 - Crest Trail in the spring
Both are beautiful hikes!

Up Crest, Down CCC
I started at the Canyon Estates Trailhead. Went up the Crest Trail. Spent a few minutes poking around at the summit, then went down to the ridge to BM Deer and sat on the rocks to eat lunch. Decended via CCC trail.

Embudo TH
Hiked with my dog, Marjean, the Embudo/3 Guns/Embudito/Crest trail combination. 3 hrs., 55 min. up, 3 hrs., 20 min down. The first half mile of the Embudo trail is a bit hard to follow; the trails higher up are great! Awesome fall weather.

CCC to South Peak
Parked at the Canyon Estates Trailhead (Free!) and followed the Crest Trail #130 to its intersection with the Faulty. Had to use a compass and map to bisect the two trails and find the CCC. Brutal trail, and difficult to find at times closer to the top. On the bright side there's no way to get lost, just plow on through to the ridge. Started at 1pm and returned to the trailhead at ~8pm

Embudito Trail
My first peak after moving to ABQ on August 1st. Loved the lush North face of the canyon. 2:30 to the summit and 1:45 down, including a loop around to the Crest Trail and back over Deer Pass on the descent.

Embudo Canyon to South Sandia Peak
Started early in the Morning. Trail was packed and Icy. A storm started to move in so I had to turn back. I got to about Oso Pass.

Three Gun Spring
I've always wanted to do this hike, and I finally got the chance. Awesome views at the top. I'm going to have to do this again from Embudito or Embudo.

Bushwhackin'
Unplanned trip with my friend, Chris. We bushwhacked straight up the east face from the South Crest Trailhead. Spent the night on the summit and came down the next day via the trail.
Climbed this for a 2nd time on 9-26-16 via Embudito. Made it to the summit in 2:18 and back in 2:00. This time of year was fantastic with the oaks turning orange and the aspens yellow. This is a great peak, and the best part is that the Embudito trailhead is only 10 minutes from my house! 3rd ascent 11-27-17 via Embudito.

First NM summit
A new friend from work invited me on a hike up South Sandia and I quickly agreed to join him for my first NM summit. I later climbed the peak again on a south to north day hike that spanned the whole range and was 22+ miles long.
Started in Placitas and headed South, up, then along the Sandia ridge. Stopped in at the High Finance for a pint of course, then continued on. Camped with a great view of the Abq lights. Next day we hit the South Sandia summit and kept hiking till we hit I-40. Fun.

2nd time
This was my second time up from the Embudito trail. Excellent views and such. We are lucky to have such sublime wilderness right at our doorstep in Abq.
23 Jan 2006 - Embudo Trail
A nice hike up the Embudo Trail, which is relatively easy to follow. It wasn't even very windy at the summit! It took around 5 hours round trip.
7 Sep 2003 - Embudito Trail
A maze of trails down low made it difficult to find the correct way up. Other than that, a pleasant hike.
