50 Years to do all 3!!
Middle Sister was my first 10,000ft peak, summited with Dad and brother in 1963. North Sister was reached on my third attempt with friends from OSAT in 1999, after the previous two attempts had to turn back 300 feet from the summit due to snow conditions. I was chased off the Easiest Sister last October in the first snowfall of the season, but returned this summer to finally reach the top on a beautiful Monday afternoon, the air having been cleared of forest fire smoke by some weather over the weekend. Visibility from Mt Adams to Mt Scott (~120-130 miles!)

freaking perfect weather. nice to hike it with no snow at all (as opposed to my last attempt in early July). will be a great training hike for other mountains!

From Devil's Lake via South Ridge
Last climb on Oregon trip before attempting Mt. Hood. Fabulous bluebird day made the snow climb enjoyable in the morning. After coming out of the trees, took the South Ridge straight up. Crevasses had already started opening up on the Lewis Glacier, but we easily avoided them. Endless visibility from summit. Could see from Mt. Hood to Mt. Shasta and everything in between. Descent sucked due to soft snow and high temps, but what an awesome experience.

Great day, minimal snow crossings
About three months after a total hip operation; I wasn't sure I could do it. I was elated to make the top. My balance is still off, so I fell twice on the way down but didn't injure myself (that scree is slippery)! Great views from the top with just a touch of haze.
On 7/17 I was hiking Broken Top and could see a helicopter rescue which landed on the top of South Sister.
Love the wilderness area around the Sisters with all the alpine lakes, great weather and no bugs!
No views from the top due to lots of smoke for nearby forest fires, but still a fun hike. Didn't think the scree was all that bad. Worth the drive from portland!
Did the standard route up South Sister. It was a long scree-filled slog. Fantastic view from the summit. Camped at Moraine lake on the way down. Fun little trip.
October 2012 - w/ Xenja Poljakowa, Tyler Haasch, Kent Lockman, Brooks McClintock, Ben Darce, Nick Anderson and Nick Graham.
This was a Glacier National Park "Dream Team" post-season road trip climb. We had an extremely clear day and could see Jefferson, Adams, Hood, Diamond Peak, Crater Lake, Washington, Thielsen and of course the other two sisters. Big thanks to Nick Graham for letting us all crash at his place the night before and after in Bend.

Early Fall
Really lovely hike up to the summit. Even with the thick smoke from the nearby forest fires I could still see all the way to Mount Adams. Hadn't been to the Cascades since I was about 6, so a pretty nice way to return!

A sick climb
Third time up South. I had been pretty ill on the previous two days and really struggled to reach the summit. Glad I was able to pull it off, but now I am still sick since I should have been resting, not climbing mountains!

Wonderful
Great hike! I got up around 1 PM and some sporatic clouds started appearing out of nowhere. I don't have much experience with Cascade weather so it spooked me a bit and I didn't linger at the summit. Took some pics for 15 min then headed back down. Turns out it was nothing and the weather ended up being fine, if not a little windy.

Hot but perfect
Perfect day, but was hitting 90 degrees. Summit view was amazing, but the fire by Jefferson clouded the north view towards hood; however we could still make out the tip.

Fun
My first cascade volcano. Dusty hike to the summit. Views of the all the Cascade volcanos from the top made me want to climb em all. This experience got me hooked on mountaineering.
The last time I climb one of those chossy, scree-y, dirty, loose women without full snow cover. Just no fun. Ok I'm a spoiled Sierra boy, but still. I was headed up to meet my friends running the Sisters Traverse N-S but a recent stomach flu left me a little less springy than expected, 2:15 TH-summit and sub 3:30 RT. My buddies went 9:01 Pole Crk to Devil's Lk, not to shabby!

Busy trail
I slept at the Devils Lake TH last night, got a leisurely start at 8:35, reached the summit in 2:50, 42 min. on top and down in 2:23. Lots of people on the trail for a Wed. Must have been a last outing before school, lots of high school kids. Hiked Mt. Bachelor later in the afternoon, and Middle Sister on Monday.
Despite the elevation gain, I figured in advance that this would be one of the lesser interesting peaks during this big peakbagging weekend. I was correct; the route was very straightforward and terrain I had experienced multiple times on other mountains. I much moreso enjoyed Mount Thielsen and Gearhart Mountain, during the previous two days.
I left in dark pre-dawn hours just so I would be back to the car by early morning. The weather was great but it was COLD. I wanted to head back to Washington in time for my daughter's swimming lesson that night. (I made it!)
This was the seventh and final Top 100 Oregon peak I summited during a 3-1/2 day timeframe.

June Fun
Spur of the moment decision to make the 6 hr drive from olympia,wa to climb this mellow beast. Made it to the trailhead at 3am saturday and bivyed up there for a few hours. started climbing at 7am, set up camp at the flats near lake moraine. summited in 3 hrs from there, glissaded back down and hung out at camp for hours before getting some shut eye. I seriously regret not bringing my snowboard :( was gonna try for broken top on sunday but didnt have the time since we live 6 hrs away and i had to work monday morning. another time. great climb though :)

This was the first 'real' mountain I had the chance to climb. The views on that particularly clear day (Rainier to Shasta?) have stuck with me for a long time.
This is a great peak for newbies and groups - we came up from the south (Devil's Lake) and didn't have any trouble getting to the top with a bunch of teenagers.

long slogDid the standard route up South Sister. It was a long scree-filled slog. Fantastic view from the summit. Camped at Moraine lake on the way down. Fun little trip.
