South Willow History
|[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]|
Looking beyond South Willow Lake in Utah's Stansbury Mountains, the vast expanse of the Great Salt Lake Desert maintains a low profile to the north. It was here, in 1846, where the ill-fated Donner-Reed Party passed by in route to California to the west, continuing over Hastings Pass in Utah's Cedar Mountains. By the time they reached what is now Donner Pass, they faced severe starvation and winter's worst.
[I don't believe they (even) knew of the existence of this remote mountain lake.]
