SP member Ellen Ritt strolls across the vast tundra below the east ridge of Sunshine Peak (background). The route runs directly up the middle of the triangular face on wellworn paths and along the ridge to the summit (left). This route climbs fast and descends even faster, however, steep San Juan slopes, particularly in the trees, is the price. Summer, 2003.
