Started on route 6. Went up Wind Rock Ridge and over P9764 along the way. 1F to start. Very windy at the base and top, but perfectly calm in the middle. There were 2 short (<.1 miles each) annoyingly brushy spots on the ridge, but the rest of it was great. There is good plowed parking at N40.0419 W111.54355.

We missed the trailhead which is across the stream about 1/8 of mile from the parking lot. We ended up some other canyon. Noticed the correct trail on the way back down.

I love summers and how long the days last. I was able to get to the top of this mountain after work...it was very dark when I got back but that's what head lamps are for! I had a deer look down at me from the top of a cornice. Funniest thing I have ever seen.

Hiked via Trail 007, Right Fork of Maple Canyon. Leaves are starting to turn. Only saw one other individual all day. Snuck up on a big, bull moose near the "lake" at 8,700 ft.

Ran from the parking lot to the top relatively chill and took quite a few pics, took about 1:50. With just over a mile to the top we believe a Mountain Goat caused a rock slide. This caused a huge shower of rocks to come off the cliffs and us to run for our lives! Luckily the closest any rocks got to us were about 40 meters or so. It was cold up top (especially in shorts and a T). We hammered down the rocky trail in 47 minutes and were glad to be done as the Thunderstorm hit. Did I mention the trail is REALLY rocky---probably the worst foot placement of any maintained trail in the Wasatch that I've done. Not a mountain I'm stoked about doing again but I'm psyched to have gotten it out of the way as it's one of the 7 peaks.

False summit was deceiving ha ha. Thought I was at the top, when I saw where I had to go. Ran into fellow SP'er Peter Gram about the halfway point. He was coming down. We were going up. Long exhausting day. But I got first sunburn of the season! :)

I did this route with a couple friends in winter. It was pretty tame the whole way up, with nothing super steep. The route is protected from avalanches. I was a little bit disappointed when I got on top of what I thought was the summit and found out that it was a false summit... Oh well. Another fifteen minutes and I was on top.

Been looking at doing this one long before I moved to Utah as it sits above my wifes grandmas house. Pics and map at http://www.willhiteweb.com/spanish_fork_peak/utah_county_hiking_187.htm

This was my first trip up this mountain. Great views at the top. The wild flowers along the way were spectacular. I've never seen so much greenery in Utah before.

We took Right Fork Maple Canyon. Contrary to what the Uinta NF ranger told me earlier in the week, the Maple Canyon road was NOT closed at the water tank; we were able to drive all the way up the canyon and park past the camp ground.

There was snow on most of the upper half of the trail, but it was a couple weeks old, so it was hard and we didn't need any snow shoes. I brought crampons and an ax because I didn't know what the snow conditions would be like, but it turns out that neither was necessary.

Maple Canyon Lake was totally frozen over with about four inches of ice.

10 miles round trip, 4600 feet of elevation gain, 4:35 to the summit, 3:00 back down.

March 6, 2010 - Route Climbed: Crowd Ridge. The snow was crusted and punchy with sugar under the crust so we had to use snowshoes for the majority of the climb. Bit windy on the ridge, and foggy from the false summit to the true summit but the fog burned off a few mintues after we summitted. Took 5 hours 40 minutes to ascend.

Nov 7, 2009 - Route Climbed: Right Fork of Maple Canyon. Had the place to ourselves. Views from the top were great.

Aug 26, 2006 - Route Climbed: Right Fork of Maple Canyon. Not a lot of grande views until you are nearly at the peak. Saw bear scatt on the trail.

A hot day to do this hike but as a result I pretty much had the mountain to myself. I did meet two others who were returning from the summit as I was heading up. Tremendous views and a long hike of 12 miles and close to 5000 feet of elevation gain by the time all was said and done. Probably close to 90 on the summit. I needed all the water I carried, 4 liters.

Up to two feet of snow in some places along the trail made for a long hike, but the weather and scenery made up for it.

This was the third time that I've climbed the mountain. It is a tough hike, in my opinion, tougher than Timp and Nebo. Although part of the reason is that each time I've hiked it I have started in the late afternoon. I need to hike this one sometime in the early morning.

climbed this one with my brother, Eric. Took a swim in Maple Canyon Lake and enjoyed perfect weather on the summit. My 1963 VW bus' tranny broke while crossing Right Fork of Maple Canyon Creek on the way home - had to get a tow home.

I had the mountain to myself. I tricky mix of mud, slush, and hard packed snow made the trip interesting. Nice views thanks to the recent snow and fall colors.
