This was the first of three highpoints for the day (WV, MD, PA). It was a beautiful day! Clear, brisk, and windy. I had the entire summit to myself. Great views! HP #23.

Longish slow drive up a dirt road. Nice view from the top. My seventh high point in five days (KY, TN, GA, SC, NC, VA).

That WV mud sticks like crazy, went to my uncle's house afterwards and hosed off all I could while he was at work. When he got home he said, "That's awful dirty, you should use my hose and wash it off."

HP #2. First of the "Highpoint Trifecta" of West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Left from Virginia Beach at 6:00 am and didn't see one cloud all day!

Drove up and walked the short path to the tower to enjoy the view. Nice change of pace between climbing Seneca Rocks and the Nelson Rocks Via Ferrata. Beautiful "Almost Heaven" country.

Drove to Spruce Knob from Seneca Rocks, WV on long, rough, curvy road to summit parking lot. Thunderstorms. Cold and windy at the top. Hiked around on the nearby trails and met some interesting people. HP #15 and our 9th HP of the week.

Highpoint #11 for me; first 2-HP day. Sadly the weather was cloudy and we had zero view.

All Around, here you can find nice hikes. Nothing really hard, and nice views, specially in fall.

Nice views on the drive up to the top!

I've driven up to Spruce Knob twice. Once on labor day in 2001 and again on Memorial day weekend 2005.

One of the roads was closed, so took the saw-mill run road. No view whatsoever on the top. Totally foggy. Interesting trees though.

A night before, I drank too much, and in the morning I had a terrible hangover. I puked until noon.

My companions left for the Spruce Knob summit without me, and they walked on the road (you know, there is a road right to the summit).

Then something inside me told me I had to get moving to get better, so I stood up, picked up a bottle of water, and went on. I was about an hour behind my friends, so I decided to fuck the road and go straight up through woods, swamp, bush, rock, etc. Guess what... I was on the summit an hour before my friends got there!

I got it confirmed again: if you are sick, or confused, or in a bad mood, get your ass together and get moving, and everything will normalize.

WAY too much snow. The snow was too deep to get my 4WD jeep to the trailhead, so we parked in the middle of the road, strapped on our crampons (in WV????) and climbed 2 miles to the top. Too much fog for any view, but it was nice to climb. Hope to go back in the warmer months!

Never signed the summit log due to the fact that my car went up 99% of the mountain. Loop trail though has great views.

Well, this was my second high point. West Virginia is very beautiful and if you catch it on a clear day it is very panoramic. I didn't, so my wife and I were treated to high winds and lots of fog. God is so creative in His creation.
