I'm not used toseeing peaks of this magnitude in Arizona.
What's all of those "scars" doing on Aeneas??? Are those "avalanche scars?"
Seems like Aeneas would be a very challenging
mountain to climb.
Final question:
When you journey out into the Jewel Basin
area, do you ever see many people out there?
What's the history? Are there remnants of
human activity of any kind, such as mine
shafts or rusting automobiles? ATV's???
This must truly be God's Country!

Re: I'm not used toI guess Mount Aeneas could be challenging if climbed from the Flathead Valley, but there is a hiking trail all the way to the summit. My (then) 8 year old daughter did it no problem.
There are avalanches in this area which may have caused the scars.
Yes there are getting to be more people on the trails (that's one of the reasons why I climb to still have the experience but not share it with everyone else).
If you read the Jewel Basin page there is a short section on history. There are no rusty cars and no mine shafts (most of the ore in this area is burried far underground). For example there is a mine near Libby Montana that is re-opening but to access the silver they must go about 1 mile into the earth. The only treasures we have in this Jewel Basin are the lakes and the peaks!
There are some conflicts regarding ATVs always brewing in the mountains, but for the most part this area is respected by all users.
And finally, yes Larry I think this is God's country.
