Thanksgiving Hike
This is the first time the weather had cooperated enough to hike after Labor Day. Temperatures in the valley were -9 F and had risen to 6 F at the trailhead. Snow depth in the trees varied from none to 8 inches deep. Above timberline, the rocks were generally clear except for a light dusting on the parts of the trail facing northeast. The summit was cold with a breeze coming upslope from the Moreno Valley and the Wheeler Massif.
A brilliant day to be out and about.

Standard Route Climb
We obtained a map to the trailhead from the Angel Fire Tourist Info Center. We followed it to the trailhead, making one wrong turn and ending up at the antenna farm on an adjacent ridge (if you do that, turn back and take the last left where you decided to turn right!). We made this drive, carefully, in a two-wheel drive Suburban. Don't even think of attempting the drive in other than a high-clearance vehicle! Great hike!
