The varied geology is beautiful as well as the view into the canyon. Enjoyed the short section of scrambling on an otherwise dull hike.

I enjoyed this hike. I counted eight stream crossings on the way to Stanislaus, each one prettier than the last, with abundant wildflowers.

Date Climbed: Jul 24, 2016

Climbed the southwest slope of this fine peak. In reality, it's a bit misleading to call this a simple class 2 walk up. There are indeed class 2 lines, but ample opportunities on the west, east, even south faces to go for class 3 and 4 variations.

We climbed some class 3/4 stuff on the SW slope. Lots of super loose rock.

There are some good looking class 4 or 5 lines on the east face on decent rock.

Enjoy this peak. It's only a slog if you make it one!

Fantastic day. Not much snow left during the drought... Silver lining is no bugs! Hiked this one after tagging Sonora peak for the second time.

Hiked up the Saint Mary's Pass Trail to Stanislaus Peak, then followed ridge, hitting all the high points to Sonora Peak, then down the PCT to the highway and back to where I started.

Decided on Sonora Pass so I could climb Stanislaus and do some acclimating for Mt. Whitney day later. The scree was a drag, nice lunch at top.

After doing Leavitt in the morning, I jogged over to Stanislaus. It's not a fun climb, but it was cool to see some new country.

Second peak of the day (Disaster Peak earlier) and I was beat. Cold and windy on summit, back to truck just before needing headlamps.

Up the trail from Saint Marys Pass like most everyone else, after a trip up Disaster Peak in the morning. Very cloudy and cold, but still nice views especially as sun set on the return.

The trail splits at St Mary's pass -- I accidentally turned right toward Sonora Peak and climbed a few hundred feet before cutting over and dropping to the main trail (on the 10,400' line).
Could not find a summit register.
