In route to South Willow Lake along the South Willow Trail, one experiences the absolute heart of the Stansbury Mountains, in the form of Ice Age remnants and prominent alpine scenery. Here, the Twin Couloirs and the quartzite face of Deseret Peak shimmer in the summer sun, even though a cool breeze was comin' in from the north. The trail climbs to a ridge-top above Dry Lake Fork Canyon. Deseret Peak ranks #4 (on Utah's prominence list) rising 5,812' above populated Tooele Valley to the east. July 23, 2011
