This could very well be the anthem for how I backpack: Overloaded, not resting, and focused on the final mile :)

Actually terrapins are fresh and brackish water swamp turtles that are native to the eastern and southern U S.
I use to catch and collect them when I was a kid in Florida.

I'd thought terrapin and tortoise were interchangeable, but you're right, and this is a desert tortoise. My play on Dead lyrics is scientifically incorrect. :)

Which leads to the question :

Was the Dead in Florida? Suppose they played
a gig there, and came up with the title ???

Musicians are FUNNY that way.

Could have been, but I'm sure they were in a 'Funny' way when they did come up with it.

Moved there from Ohio in '86....lived there until we moved to Montana in 2008... all over the state...my favorite place was Destin in the panhandle...one of the last places in Florida that didn't seem like a Third World country.

Should have caught that Dead word play. I had that album. Remember the tune 'Estimated Prophet'.
