I rode my bike up Storm King after Huffacker and Purcell. The next day I did Elbert and The Rockies also by bicycle. Those 2 scum bag peaks take the blue ribbon for worst bushwhacking of 2017. Prominence sucks.

Northeast Approach
I bicycled in from the Mineral gate. The logging company had snowplowed the spur road partway up from Gallup Creek so I pushed my bike to where they quit and then hiked to the top. A fast bike ride back out.

Took a lot of work to figure this one out as every route was signed No Trespassing at that time unless you came from way over by Skate Creek area maybe. But a conversation with the gatekeeper in Mineral let us know that it was OK was to walk the roads. Or bike them. And so we did, coming in from Mineral and riding bikes through the flat stuff. Not bad as a route really on a bike because a lot of it was paved.
Paul M. and I tried a new summit approach I had proposed, and it worked much better than we anticipated. We headed to the summit from west of the peak, starting at an unmarked/unsigned/ungated road. No problems with private property (houses, dogs, etc.), and no real problems with routefinding. We went about 10 miles roundtrip with nearly 3100' of cumulative elevation gain. It might be the shortest seemingly-legal route to the summit.
