We climbed from a different route, a BLM road branching off from Lemitar. It is shorter (about 6-8 miles RT) and took us about 6 hours. However, know your time. You do not want to get lost, after dark, in January, 4 miles as the crow flies from civilization.
The route is tough with several major drainage basins to cross (although these can be avoided by hugging the range). As far as the map could tell us, we were on BLM land the whole time which is a plus (no CIA prisons).
The view from the summit is beautiful. Note also the scramble is class 3-4. The loose rock in my opinion makes it class 4 because you could slide a long way with a misstep. Take it easy on this one there are a lot of hidden dangers and it is a long walk (crawl) back from any direction.
(However you do have excellent cell reception, so in worst case, you can be rescued relatively quickly).
