| Setting out in San Caterina Valfurva, I went via Rifugio Pizzini up to the Casati hut and up the Suldenspitze that same evening, crossing snow and rubble but easily so. The view is lovely down towards Sulden and also upon the magnificent Königspitze, as well as Cevedale and the mountains surrounding it. I spent the night in the Casati hut and next morning, before going down to the valley, I visited the glacier island where you find three nearly intact canons from WW1. Ghostly and awesome at the same time! The situation of that place is - despite it's dark history - magnificent! The view down to the Martell valley was gorgeous that day! | |

| a short walk from Casati hut... warm enough to do with short trousers. If you start a trip to Ortler-Cevedale group with the ascent to Casati hut, it is advisable to climb Suldenspitze for a better acclimatization. | |
