Nice photoEric, it would be interesting to compare this photo and a photo of the same place taken in recent years to see how global warming affected the glaciers.

Re: Nice photoYou're absolutely right!! Maybe among the photos in the area page "Pennine Alps" or in the mountain pages of Dom, Täschhorn and Lenzspitze we can find something! Great idea!
Cheers,
Eric

Re: Nice photoAha - I see! :-) The link you gave is to the preview of the American movie upon the story of Heidi, I see! I can tell you exactly where it was filmed...the mountain scenes take place in the East Tyrolean (Austria) valley of Kals - one sees the south side of the Grossglockner several times - and for the Francfort scenes the historical part of Salzburg was used! None of it was done in Switzerland, beautiful as the film is!

Re: Nice photoNow I see :D – why Heidi has always made me think of Austria rather than Switzerland. Thanks for clarification and all the details!

Re: Cool ~Yes, I have very beautiful and very strong childhood memories of the Swiss Alps. I grew up near Zurich, and we often went to Saanen and Gstaad - my father worked at the Menuhin festival back then - as well as to Saas-Fee and Zermatt, but especially to the Canton of Graubünden in the south east part of the country. All sorts of things that shape you for life...
Greetings and all the best to you,
Eric
