Summit headwall of Lone Pine...

Summit headwall of Lone Pine Peak's North Ridge-3 main variations exist, from what I made of it- main crack on R, arete in center (immediately to the L of splotch of light); both of these felt more difficult than a 5.4, so as not to need to rope up, we took the crack on the L (immediately R of large flake), which was a little easier- 6 September, 2003

Depth of field

Hey Dirk,

Nice set of photos! You may want to tweak with your camera's exposure and allow for the greater depth of field so your close ups (and objects in the far distance if you want) are all in focus. I can help you figure it out if you want, just send me an email.

Re: Depth of field

Thanks, Misha- had to use a cheapy 1X use camera for this one (& most this summer), after having lost my camera at BCS early in the summer. Gonna get a nice digital, soon. I'll keep your offer in mind. Thanks!

Re: Depth of field

Sure bud. If you need help selecting a camera, let me know. I've tried and owned many of them.

Need more info

Dirk, could you elaborate on exactly where this is on the route? Is it the very beginning of the headwall? I'm having trouble judging scale and angle. I can't tell how steep it is.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: Need more info

From what I recall, this is a few hundred feet below the summit, and a ways after the first technical portion of the ridge & tower. I'd estimate it to be 20-30' high, & steep. I went a little farther to the L (just out of this photo) & found an easier & somewhat less exposed

option that we did instead (see this photo.).
