thanks, really it had a lot of people every day of july. You must to be very fast to climb and descend before these mountaineers walking in the glacier they arrive to the narrow ridge (dangerous overbooking, but no one fall, it's a miracle!)

Too much people! But it's a nice ridge with sun. Beautifull landscape.

Re: Every italian climbs Gran Paradiso on a nice day of July!

I saw a guided party of 3 fall on the glacier in 2003. Even though the slope was very gentle the guide was not able to stop the fall. They stopped sliding when they reached a flat part of the glacier. Fortunately before reaching a crevasse. The clients had no idea what they were doing on that mountain. The miracle in this case is that nobody gets hurt more often.

Besides that I agree completely with you. Way too many people but maybe it is because it is a beautiful mountain (and a very easy route).

You're not the only one, Irene... I also got it. Seems we all look at the same places ;-)

Re: Every italian climbs Gran Paradiso on a nice day of July!

uffff, is a long fall...

really I think that it's a miracle no more accidents in this narrow and dangerous ridge with too many people...the madonna of the summit is really miraculous.

But,

there are no 4000m "easy" ones!

there are no "easy" glaciers!

This takes to mistake people who is not accustomed to climb mountains.

O.K. I agree with you, for us is an easy climb but only the mountaineers that they have practised in other mountains and glaciers they must climb these mountains. Stop the tourism of risk in the mountain!.

A mount of this importance must neither be the baptism to know the Alps and to live through an adventure without at least nor to be able to tie the crampons in the feet!

Is the same case in the popular Aneto, the highest point of Pyrenees in my country,...people without crampons, people with shoes or slippers in the glacier, 6 persons in the same rope, too many people in a final ridge of 1 meter wide....(much worse that in the Alps)... definitively the miracles I believe that they exist.

But in spite of all we suffer all this by enjoying this marvelous image since the top...
