Sunflowers/Asters

I created this album to showcase photos of Sunflowers or Asters, those flowers that are in the family Asteraceae. These easy to recognize and popular flowers are actually composed of many small flowers, or florets. Each flower head has many central petal-less florets that form the disc in the center. Ray florets, each with one petal, form the outside of the flower head.

Please feel free to add photos of wild sunflowers or asters that you have taken :)

"I am in love with this world. I have nestled lovingly in it. I have climbed its mountains, roamed its forests, sailed its waters, crossed its deserts, felt the sting of its frosts, the oppression of its heats, the drench of its rains, the fury of its winds, and always have beauty and joy waited upon my goings and comings."   --John Burroughs
