Great shot. I can only imagine how cold it was...I'm going to climb this the weekend of 2/5-2/7 2010. Are crampons needed in any section?

Thanks for the comment. No, you won't need crampons for either Barr Trail or the Crags route on Pikes. The avy danger is generally low on these routes as well. Snowshoes will give you enough traction on either of these routes. Have fun! It actually was quite pleasant that winter day, with temps probably in the upper teens when that shot was taken late in the day.
