Overview

On the south side of Picture Pk, there are at least three gullies facing approximately SW, S and SE. This route climbs the SW gully above an unnamed lake at 12,200'.

Approach

From Echo Lake head straight up good quality talus to the right of steep rock hovering over Echo Lake. You will see the SE Gully from here. Traverse westward past the S Gully until under the SW Gully.

Route Description

Scramble, or snow climb, up the gully then head up and left over nice 3rd class to the summit.

Gear

Though these gullies face south, they are deep and catch a lot of shade. In a normal snow year all were snow choked even in late July. Climbing early season with an ice ax would be a good way to avoid loose rock.

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
