Sweet Second Pitch

Pitch 2 has some wonderful exposure off the belay station's deck. 30m up the pitch, the climber sees an airy view of the 400m of elevation gained above the Mendenhall valley floor. Vehicles pass by unsuspecting and one is overcome with the feeling that its good to be climbing good SE Alaskan water ice. There usually a good chance near the climb's pinnacle that evening alpine glow is close behind.
