| Great views and one of the better Sonoran Desert scenic areas I've seen yet. No Border Patrol encounters - it was very quiet. | |

| On the way up, the many switchbacks made me think that the trail builders were trying too hard to ease the climb. On the way down, I was grateful for them. Those volcanic stones and chips can make for some treacherous traction. Fun, low-altitude hike to shake off the cold-winter blues! | |

| We made it on a warm afternoon - high 80s but it felt a lot hotter due to the volcanic rocks that radiate the heat very effectively. My wife turned her ankle and had to go slow. Found an encampment up high below the first summit used by Mexican crossers. Got spooked by a large rattlesnake a few feet from our truck on the hike out. Got stopped twice by the BP on the drive back to the highway. Lots of fun! | |
