| First trip to Tahquitz and it was fantastic. Beautiful country side, great weather (clear sunny skis) and I even enjoyed getting sun burnt . It was good to climb on American soil again! Thanks Deb! | ||

| Actually I free solo climbed the Trough on Tahquitz Rock and bushwacked my way due south to meet up with the South Ridge Trail. Had a fantastic time all by my lonesome blazing a personal trail and literally running down from the summit onto Devil's Slide so I could get the usual Buffalo burger and beer at Jo'Anns. Beautiful day! | ||

| Gorgeous weather and great views. Cool in the morning, hot in the afternoon (down low on the Ernie Maxwell trail). The route described makes a great loop, although a longish day (~11.5 miles?). Called home (San Diego) from the top--wife said it was raining, and looking south, I could see Cuyamaca Peak poking though the cloud cover. There was also a "prescribed burn" (near Warner Spgs) smoking up the south horizon above the marine layer. Nearing Humber Park again, under Lily Rock, I could hear the climbers yelling their belay commands to each other. Mosquitoes weren't too bad, but gnats were maddening as they hovered just in front of my eyes despite copious amount of repellent. | ||

| Overnight summer trip in June 2002. Hiked up starting at the south ridge trail to the summit and continued northeast on the pacific crest trail camping between the peak and saddle junction. Saw no other people overnight. deer came wandering into our camp as we were cooking dinner. Hiked down the next morning continuing northeast to saddle junction and then southwest on devils slide trail and then onto Ernie Maxwell scenic trail. This gets you back to the road that you drove up to the south ridge parking area. It was really hot so I hitched a ride up to the car with someone heading up to the trailhead while my friend waited with our packs. Round trip this is about 7 miles of hiking with about 2000' of gain/loss. | ||
