Tall Beech in Laurel Fork
|[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Small | Thumb ]|
I'm not sure the photo really does it justice, but there are a lot of really tall trees in Laurel Fork in Big South Fork National River and National Recreation Area (BSFNRNRA). I found a campsite above the fork with a grove of such trees, of several different species, in what looked like an old-growth region. Certainly it would have been hard to log this patch back in the day. October 2010.
