DayhikeShort easy hike from Mount Rose Summit. Why do they call these road passes summits? You literally start the hike to Mount Rose from MOUNT ROSE SUMMIT, come on.
Anyway..... Tamarack was fun and quick. Bagged early morning and headed back home to work.

Via East Ridge from Mt Rose Trail with Relay Peak and Mount HoughtonClimbed by East Ridge as part of a triple summit day with Relay Peak and Mount Houghton. There was too much snow on the ground to tell if there was a decent use trail but the ridge was easy to follow. Nice views of Reno and Lake Tahoe.

Tamarack Southeast RidgeTamarack Peak via New Mount Rose Trail and southeast ridge. Snowshoe trip. 1,000 ft elevation gain. Party of 3. About an hour to the top and 1.6 miles from the Mount Rose Summit parking lot.

Lost BD Guide GlovesMy wife and I lost 2 pairs of Black Diamond Guide Gloves at the parking lot (left them on the roof)... on my birthday no less. Hoping someone found them - they're $160/ea! They're black with tan leather, sizes M and L. Happy to pay a reward.

5 peak dayFun day of hiking, from Mt. Rose summit took the Relay Road, cross country from due south of Tamarack, up and over the peak, back down to Relay Road, up to Relay Peak where I scrambled up the last 300 feet rather than walking the road, then took the new trail to Mt. Houghton, then cross country down from Houghton to the saddle with Mt. Rose, picked up the Mt. Rose trail here, took that until it was time for the easy cross country to Church Peak, then rejoined the Mt. Rose trail to the summit of Mt. Rose. Took the Mt. Rose trail all the way back down. East RidgeParked at summit parking lot. Crossed the highway and did the snow climb up Slide Mountain. Then back to the pass and hit the rim trail. Got about a half mile in before snow took over. Just followed the ridge all the way up, occasionally looking over the edge at the beautiful bowl below. Saw two pairs of backcountry skiers and turned envious.
