Long day....  Sucess!

Snow all the way to the summit, 6-8 inches last 3 miles. It's long hike mostly on some mining road, nothing spectacular but views from top are nothing short of being spectacular. Sangre de Cristo mountains , what a view.

Fun hike, solitude  Sucess!

Not much to do in Canon City, CO on a Sunday so I decided to take the high road. Drove to the Tanner Trailhead around 10 AM and started on the trail. Made the summit after many miles of uphill at around 1:30PM. Amazing views of the Sangre De Cristo mountain range, including multiple 14,000 peaks. The summit of Tanner Peak is less than 10,000 feet but it was a very tiring hike. The only other people I saw all day were 4 dirt bikers. Made it back to the trailhead at 4PM.

Amazing View of Sangres  Sucess!

Had to try again this week since I wasted too much time taking pictures to summit last week. Summited today! As always, the Sangres are amazing from the top of the Wet Mountains. Even better weather than last week. Tee shirt weather on the summit in January - hard to believe. Highly recommend this hike for the views of the Wet Mountain Valley, Sangres and Pikes Peak.

Spectacular views

Unbelievable hike for mid-January. Sun shining, low-fifties, and very little snow - only in Colorado's Arkansas Valley. I broke off the trail not far from Tanner Peak and summited several lower points to the northwest of Tanner. The views of Pikes Peak and the canyon country west of Canon City were amazing. The Sangres were partially visible. Spending too much of the day hiking these smaller outcroppings, I ran out of time and failed to summit Tanner. Maybe next time.

Tanner Peak Trail, northern trailhead  Sucess!

Saw surprisingly few people on this peak! Beautiful (if breezy) spring day. Just one running and two kids on motorcycles until I ran into a group of teenagers at the very end. Views of the Sangres are obscene.
