Pico Tarija  Sucess!

Got to the summit just after sunrise. Magnificent views. Buddy wasn't feeling well, so we saved Alpamayo for another time. Just impressed he fought through to make it up to Tarija! Great climb and experience at that altitude. Hope to return another day.

the view  Sucess!

fun glacier climb with Splattski, tplatt and our guide Eulogio. The view of Pequeno Alpamayo from this summit is definitely worth the effort to get there even if one does not go over to climb Pequeno Alpamayo.

First encounter  Sucess!

Climbed Pico Tarija as an aclimatization and training hike togeher with my friends Johan Dahlström (SWE) and Mark van Gessel (HOL). We camped for two nights at the beautiful Lago Chiar Chota. A good track took us over the uneventful glacier. Great summit view. Next time perhaps Pequeño Alpamayo?

Pico Tarija   Sucess!

It was great experience for me. Wonderful views of the Conodriri range. I was not prepared for that much ice. Thank god for the guide. Was supposed to do Alpamayo to but did not have the energy.

En route to Pequeño Alpamayo  Sucess!

On the way to Pequeño Alpamayo, it was still dark, although there was a shimmer of light on the eastern horizon.

We had a long break on Pequeño Alpamayo, and when we finally came back to Tarija the sun was well and truly out and we could see the Pequeño Alpamayo summit ridge in its full glory.

A perfect day!
