| Climbed the N route from Twin Eagle, dropped down the backside and scrambled up Catamount. I finished by crossing Lake Park to Hankins Pass and then up South Tarryall. Great tour of the area. | |

| A fairly light early winter of snow allowed us to still pull this off as a day hike on New Year's Day, but it was still pretty tough. The snow didn't get real deep though until we were on n.e. facing aspects just below the summit of Tarryall. See TR. It was a rewarding 11.5 hour day in one of the hidden gems of Colorado. Tarryall has the best views of any LCW peak I have been on to date! | |

| The last 0.75 miles of bushwack is a little bit more difficult than described on this page and Gerry Roach's Colorado's Lost Creek Wilderness guide. In some areas, the fallen trees are rather dense. Great views from the top. Click here for additional pictures from this hike. | |

| I climbed to the top of (what I will call) the east sub-summit of Tarryall Peak. At the tail end of a long solo trip, I intended to climb Catamount. My body was worn out and my strength was running low. I made it to Lake Park and turned off at the burnt tree. I made my way up to the base of what I thought was Catamount, although it didn’t look right. I managed to climb up a chimney, probably low class 5, and then scramble the rest of the way up. When I turned around I saw Catamount across the way. I was so spent, I readily acknowledged defeat, repelled down, pulled down the rope, packed up, and hiked out. | |

| A great outing on a wonderful day. The going went well until beyond Lizard Rock. This is were we first encountered snow. Pretty easy until Hankins Pass. From there is was knee deep or more with lots of bushwhacking. We took a more direct Class 4 route to the summit and had outstanding views from the top. | |

| My second visit to Tarryall's summit. My intenetion was to get some better photos, and revisit a summit that I remembered as one of the better ones in the area. Well, its tough to take photos when its cold, windy and snowing on the summit. Afterwards, the clouds broke up and I took a 5 mile detour to go and climb UN 11323, a peak to the east that i had been wanting to climb for over a year. RT-13 miles and 4,400-ft. | |

| my first rocky mtn backpack was s. tarryall, and I've been up from twin eagles and ute pass trailheads dozens of times in the 10 years i've lived in CO. a fave spot. | |

| Lake Park Peak is a perfect day hike for someone who wants to work on routefinding and easy class 3 scrambling. Once off the Hankins Pass trail I really enjoyed the scenery and bouldering. Keep an eye out for my hiking poles, I set them down to do some scrambling and never found them again. I searched for almost an hour! Maybe bigfoot snagged them. Of all the LCW peaks I have climbed this one had the best views of the Hayman Burn area. The burn comes to within 100 yrds of the east summit. | |
