I had a "slight" griz encounter on Abercrombie Peak in Washington but it only involved a bear print over the top of my own bootprint but it was still too close for my comfort. The next day, another summitposter and I went after Gypsy Peak, which is signed as Grizzly bear and caribou habitat. I find it very uncomfortable to hike in areas where you could come face to face with one of those big guys (as you did). Your pics indicate a very nice area but not one I'd care to hike in. I enjoyed your trip report.
"Beneath high cliffs I live alone. Swirling clouds swirl all day. Inside my hut it might be dim, but in my mind I hear no noise. I passed through a golden gate in a dream. My spirit returned when I crossed a stone bridge. I left behind what weighted me down."
