Pretty area

I had a "slight" griz encounter on Abercrombie Peak in Washington but it only involved a bear print over the top of my own bootprint but it was still too close for my comfort. The next day, another summitposter and I went after Gypsy Peak, which is signed as Grizzly bear and caribou habitat. I find it very uncomfortable to hike in areas where you could come face to face with one of those big guys (as you did). Your pics indicate a very nice area but not one I'd care to hike in. I enjoyed your trip report.

Re: Pretty area

It is a pretty area. I spent a year working in the bush of Alaska years back and bear encounters weren't this frequent. Could have just been a coincidence, who knows, but (2) was enough.
