The Asselstein as seen from the valley
Have a little look on this marvellous picture ... Do you know this very big and high, wild rocky formation, which is localised in Germany ?
No ? So, I will tell you, that you are situated in the Palatinate region, in the area of Annweiler-am-Trifels. This city is known for his very famous and legendar castle of Trifels, and equally, for their pink sandstone's rocks (exemples : Asselstein, Forlenberg, Hahnstein, Hundsfels, Leberstein, ... ). The most popular of them, is certainly, the " big-boss " Asselstein ! With a total height of 58 meters, are the southern walls considerated as the highest, in all the region ... But, several others rocks, are reaching a so height, exemples :
- the Lämmerfels in Dahn (with almost 70 meters ! ).
- the Buchholzfels in Sarnstall (with 67 meters).
- the Rötzenberg in Gossersweiler (with 63 meters).
- the Dimberg in Dimbach (with 59 meters).
- the Rauhberg in Spirkelbach (with 58 meters).
