The "box" at the summit of...
The "box" at the summit of Mt. Umunhum. 80 feet tall AN/FPS-35 radar. Back in its day, it was said that it could withstand a nuclear bomb. Nowadays it is starting to deteriorate, and there are cracks in it from the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. It is covered in lead paint that is peeling off from its exposure. The surrounding buildings haven't been maintained since the 80's.

I think the "box" is the site of an abandoned early warning radar system. The summit was part of the Almaden Air Force Station, which operated between 1957 and 1980. Some interesting (though poor quality) pictures are here.
