It's massive all right, but hard to take a photo that gets the message across properly: this face is 2000m high!

It's very dangerous to climb, unless you like gambling with your life. The route we're following, from the Tasman Valley to the Hooker Valley over Ball Pass, is not in any real danger from avalanches coming off this slope, as there is still a valley in between.

I have to admit I took lots of pictures of it, but I like this one a lot too.

It´s a scary messy face, but I understand that it´s actually been climbed! Even if I were good enough a mountaineer to climb it, I would never want too, because when we were there, small avalanches kept coming down, and I was told that that´s pretty normal, which makes climbing it a gamble with your life ...
