The Castle and Gold | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
The Castle, with its shattered-looking ramparts, rises prominently in Capitol Reef National Park near the Visitor Center and is one of the park's most recognizable sights. It is not close to being the highest or largest formation in the park, but its features make it one of the most dramatic. Here, a golden cottonwood along the Fremont River helps frame this spectacular peak.

Hasn't voted | Thanks, Mark. I'm glad you liked it. Out of curiousity, what are your top two? Capitol Reef is definitely in my top five. | | Posted Mar 25, 2010 1:53 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Glacier (sheer, magnificent beauty) and Big Bend (solitude--out there you're nobody).
