The central calcareous...
The central calcareous Prokletije mountains are the major alpine mountains (also called the Noth Albanian Alps) of southeast Europe. All river valleys are U-shaped glacial valleys which were favourable for settling. The scarcity of springs and running water, even the big Ljesnica valley is dry, with the inaccesibility of the harsh rugged mountains and their tremendous geomorphological portrait creates one of the great european wilderness sceneries.
