The Dwarf Birch (Betula...
The Dwarf Birch (Betula nana), "Vaivaiskoivu" in Finnish, is found throughout Northern Lapland. It is adapted to extreme temperatures and short summers, and is more like a scrub, typically only 0.2-0.8m tall. The photo is taken during September since the leaves have already turned red. This is called the "ruska" in Finnish and many people flock to Lapland to witness this display of beautifull colors.
