The East Face of James Peak

The East Face of James Peak

The east face of James Peak with its renowned snow routes. The trident-shaped couloir reaching the summit is Shooting Star, which probably owes its name to the frequent rockfalls. To the left of Shooting Star is Sky Pilot. The snow line starting more or less from the same spot as Shooting Star, but veering right, is Super Star. Further right, parallel to Shooting Star is Starbright. The Starlight Couloir, left of Sky Pilot, is not discernible in this picture. All of these routes are described in Roach's Colorado's Indian Peaks. To the left and behind James Peak is Parry Peak; further left is Mount Bancroft. May 28, 2005.
