The Elephants Perch and Chockstone Basin
The very familiar Elephants Perch on the left. Peak 9847 is just to the right overlooking the Shangri-La Basin. Peak 10,200 dominates right of middle with Decker Peak in the distance behind. Chockstone Basin shows it's rough ground on the right. Picture shot while descending Peak 9980

That is some view and some shot. Looks like a winner of a peak to target my next trip there. Is this one a technical climb or a scramble?

Because of it's location it's a great view point, it's a scramble...with a touch of 5th class to gain the highest slab. It is like many Sawtooth peaks....piles of slabs at the "summit" The tilted slab. about 18" by 15'high by 25' is like a slice of bread..at a very steep angle(65 or 75 degree's). A great peak with a twin worth exploring. The small basin also has a lake with a grass field, for a great base camp. Quartzite Peak is also right there, well less then an hour away!
